Davey and Jonesie’s Locker: S1 E4 All of the Hunger Game and Mad Max shoutouts

It’s true. The sillier and stupider Davey and Jonesie’s Locker gets, the funnier and more entertaining it becomes. It almost feels like our two protagonists were moving too fast for the story in the first two episodes and now everyone else is catching up nicely.

“Beyond Hunger Dome” put our two title characters in a fight against each other. The episode was almost all goofing on “The Hunger Games” saga and “Mad Max: Fury Road”.

Let’s take a look at some of the nods.

First the Hunger Games stuff..

Principal Neighbors was basically Effie and President Snow.

Emille was Ceasar Flickerman with the mic.

Abbott was Cinna and kinda stole the show here with the costumes.

And if by some chance you’ve never read the Hunger Games, you can buy the books on Amazon HERE

With Mad Max, Joyce was Max and the ride or die zone was Fury Road. You’ve got to love the motorcycle gang that is very good at sharing.

The press conference at the beginning of the show was funny. And I like how both Davey and Jonesie knew they were covering Hulk Hogan. Davey actually sounded a little like Macho Man too.

Having Cheryl press the “Hard” button to set up the balance beam was a nice touch and I’m also enjoying her DAD character more as the show goes on.

Getting back to my opening point. Davey and Jonesie’s Locker has caught a little bit of a stride. It’s almost like you have to fully commit to the goofiness of this entire endeavor to enjoy it. It almost feels like there is some parody humor a lot of times.

Don’t take any of it seriously and you’ll be fine.

And definitely checkout the wild ending to episode 3 HERE
