Obi-Wan Kenobi: Here is why some fans aren’t warming up to the return of the Jedi

Yes, that title was a pun.

But social media has been doing a lot of talking about Obi-Wan Kenobi, which premiered late last month on Disney Plus, and features the return of Ewan McGegor as the title character, and Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader.

The critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes is good. Around 88%.

The audience rating? Not so good. Hovering between the high 50s and low 60s. It’s exactly at 60% at the time of this publication.

If you’re wondering, I think the show is…decent so far. Not great. But also not bad.

Here is why some fans aren’t enjoying their return to the mythology.

Obi-Wan hasn’t gotten his groove back: Kenobi is seen by many as the true hero of the story. Especially younger fans.

But so far…He’s kind of a wimp.

And fans don’t like seeing him that way. We expect that he’ll get his confidence back before the series is over, but right now this isn’t it.

Vivien Lyra Blair is good but the rest of the new cast is underwhelming: Blair who plays young Leia Organa has been excellent. The heart of the show so far. Everybody else? Not that great. Do we really need Kumail Nanjiani in everything?

The action hasn’t made any sense: So, Darth Vader is beating down Obi-Wan and he’s deterred by a line of flames that he started? We don’t know what his true intentions are but the other action scenes have been a little off as well.

Listen, we’re only halfway through the series. And I’m not hating it.

But I also can’t be mad at fans that aren’t quite feeling this highly anticipated return yet.

If you’re digging this Obi-Wan content, please help me out. Even a couple of credits would help a lot.
