The Last Thing He Told Me: Too much whining made me quit this series

That’s it. I’ve seen enough. I can’t do it anymore.

I shut off “The Last Thing He Told Me” 11 minutes into the fourth episode when we went from one mean and whiny teenager to another. I tapped out, despite my decades long fandom of the lovely Jennifer Garner.

The pacing. The dialog. The boredom. It all made me frustrated. I’ve got better things to do.

But I’m going to offer a solution.

There is a way to build a step parent or surrogate guardian relationship.

I look at “The Last of Us”. HBO built that relationship between Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) in a way that dealt with adversity and setbacks that should be emulated. No, I’m not just talking about the zombies and horror, I’m talking about the little moments. The chats, the jokes, and the reveals of their respective histories that were done much better than anything we see here.

The Last Thing He Told Me could have used some of that.

Sorry, Jennifer Garner. I’ll watch some “Alias” and “Time of Your Life” reruns to repent. I hope you get something better soon.
