Saturday Night Live: Cast lifts Ana De Armas to an enjoyable outing
Ana De Armas is kind and beautiful, but she hasn’t really done a lot of notable comedy. This is why I was interested how she would do on Saturday Night Live, and thanks to an SNL cast that was having a sharp night, the “Blonde” star ended up doing quite well.
The cold open was fun while taking a much needed break from politics, as they covered the first warm spell in New York. It was also fun to hear about how Robert Deniro visited De Armas’ family in Cuba during her monologue which was impossible not to connect to.
When we got to the skits, the game show spot missed only because we’ve seen it done better during Margot Robbie’s appearance. The rap studio segment was much better and as a Spanish speaker, the classroom skit was also good.
This is a great time to mention how good Ego Nwodim, Mikey Day, and Chloe Fineman were tonight. They all worked with their guest host very well. Especially Fineman, who had some uncooperative dogs during in a skit that was still a lot of fun.
Please Don’t Destroy don’t miss. Not this week. I’ll let you know when it finally happens.
Weekend Update was once again a lot of fun because of Sarah Sherman. She completely owns the segement whenever she’s on. Add Genesis Fry to her list a great characters.
Becky G was good. SNL nailed her sets in both of her enjoyable performances.
All in all, not a bad night for De Armas. If they bring her back, she’ll probably do even better.
We get some time off before Pete Davidson returns in the beginning of May with Lil Uzi Vert. Davidson was extremely overrated during his time on SNL. I’m not looking forward to seeing the humorless Chad skits return.
Until next time.
