How We Roll: Why this really bad sitcom still carries a very important message

I’ve watched two episodes of “How We Roll” the new bowling sitcom on CBS, and I’ve got to tell you, it’s really bad.

Nothing against the people working on the show, but it’s a dog. It’s not acted well. The flow is off. The dialog is dull. Even the sets are poorly lit. It’s like CBS was trying to save on the electric bill during production.

And this is really weird, because for the last 15 years, CBS has been on top of their game with sitcoms like Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory. More recently, Ghosts is an absolute joy.

But How We Roll is a mess.

I feel bad writing this review. This is because this is the story of Tom Smallwood, a laid off blue collar worker who was down on his luck before deciding to chase his dream playing the game he loved.

That means something.

Who hasn’t had a dream they wished they chased? God knows, I had a few. I’m a big dreamer.

And I know a lot of you are as well. There comes a time when we have to decide to chase a dream or just settle. Most people will just settle.

Smallwood did not. And he got to live his dream and there is now a TV show about it.

Now, I’m not going to recommend this show on it’s merits as a device for entertainment. But if you need a push to keep going on a dream, you could definitely do a lot worse.

And if you like what you’re reading please consider helping the blog. It’s just me here and every little bit helps. Thank you!
