Shrinking: *Updated* Harrison Ford feels like a rental for excellent new show
UPDATE: This says it all. Happy to hear it.
? Yeah – I’m not doing more without Harrison. #shrinking

Shrinking is great. I think its good enough to potentially be the next Ted Lasso (story HERE).
Three episodes in, its running on all cylinders as the “psychological vigilante”, Jimmy, played by Jason Segel, treats his patience while grieving over the death of his wife. Jessica Williams is excellent as his colleague, and Bill Lawrence show veteran, Christa Miller, is “Scrubs” good as the blunt but loving neighbor next door. Even Ted McGinley, in very limited screen time, has been funny.
And of course, the legendary Harrison Ford. My all time favorite actor.
He plays Jimmy’s mentor, Paul, who is suffering with Parkinsons. He’s as excellent as can be expected.
But it feels as if Ford is only going to be on the show for a limited time.
To begin, let’s talk about his real life.
In addition to Shrinking, Ford has just watched his other show Yellowstone: 1923 get renewed, he has Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny coming up, and he still has to make his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, taking over for the late, great, William Hurt, as “Thunderbolt” Ross.
He’ll be 81 in July. We know that Ford is “zero quit”. He said this week that he doesn’t see himself not working.
But how much is too much?
As we move back to the show, his illness gives him an out.
And the truth is that this cast is so good, and the writing is off to such a strong start, that “Shrinking” could probably stand on its own two legs without Ford.
Do I want him to leave? Absolutely not.
But I’m being realistic. Its like getting upgraded to a Corvette, when you rented the Malibu. I suppose I should just sit back and enjoy the ride. But I understand the ride will eventually be over and I’ll have to take it back.
If you haven’t watched Shrinking yet, please do. You’ll be happy you did.
