Grand Crew: Let’s hope NBC isn’t sending it out to die on Friday nights

Grand Crew returns this week. If you haven’t watched it already, you should. Its pretty funny. I was happy to have followed it through its entire first season.

But I’m a little worried. You see, it won’t be airing on Tuesdays like it did last year. It will be beginning its second year on Friday nights.

The same slot NBC just sent Young Rock to essentially die. The same place where Lopez vs. Lopez is having a tough time finding a following.

If the biggest movie star in the world can’t make that time work, it doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence in this move either.

And if we shift it in reverse, American Auto currently sits in its former slot and it too is having difficulty growing its numbers.

In fact, if we’re being technical, Night Court is the only NBC comedic performer on prime time right now, and that’s because it has John Larroquette and the legacy of the original in tow.

Now, Night Court has also been successful because Larroqutte and Melissa Rauch have been promoting the heck out of it. NBC does deserve some credit and I gave it to them HERE.

But Grand Crew needs some promotion as well.

The show is worth it. It’s comedy builds in the fashion of each member of the cast getting into trouble on their own and then the entire (or much) of the group coming together at the end for a funny conclusion. Its laugh out loud stuff.

But Friday nights, man. Opposite Shark Tank. Opposite WWE Smackdown. Opposite of whatever new fare the streamers are throwing out there.

I hope Grand Crew gets a fair shot.
