Trending: X (formerly Twitter) rains 49ers and Chiefs logos ahead of Super Bowl

It is Super Bowl Sunday, and in a few hours, the world will sit down to watch the Kansas City Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers from Las Vegas with story lines that stretch well beyond the game.

X (formerly known as Twitter) is getting into the act by raining the logo of the teams when you search under their respective hashtags.

#FTTB for the 49ers (FTTB means Faithful To The Bay)

#ChiefsKingdome for the Chiefs

It’s a similar response to what you’ll see when you click on someone’s profile on their birthday, when you’re usually rewarded with rising balloons.

It’s a nice touch to the app, although its unclear if we’ll see X continue to use it for other occasions. The hashtag is still king when it comes to categorization of trending topics online.

And then of course, there is always the logo that appears next to certain hashtags. Like when you hashtag #SuperBowl, you’ll get the game’s logo next to it.

The Super Bowl will also have plenty of other distractions aside from the game, including the annual expensive commercials, the highly anticipated Usher halftime show, and of course, Taylor Swift, who is coming to watch her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, play in the big game. Las Vegas will host the game, which is bound to lead to a high turnout for celebrities and plenty of after party footage that will land online.

Who have you got winning the big game? Let me know in the comments.
