Veterans unemployment shows improvement amid negative reports on U.S. job market: The jobless rate among U.S. veterans improved in December even as national employment numbers showed discouraging signs of sluggishness amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. more HERE

‘A sense of fulfillment’: Volunteers retrieve wreaths from veterans cemetery: The wreaths at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery glistened in the bright Texas sun for the final time Saturday until November.

A few hundred area residents braved the chilly temperatures to gather the more than 11,000 wreaths that have been in place at every grave and columbarium since Nov. 28.

Bows were discarded and wreaths were placed back on the poles and put into the trucks, stored for safekeeping until they are needed again. more HERE

Volunteers in Snohomish County collect cold weather gear for veterans: With the temperatures getting chillier, folks in Snohomish County are hoping to give veterans in need a hand up.

“Especially those veterans that are homeless and unsheltered facilities and living out on street,” said Gary Walderman.
