The superb Ozark is coming to an end according to show runners in an announcement made Tuesday. Our journey with the Byrds will conclude with an extended fourth season of 14 episodes in two parts.
The show, which revolves around the lives of a Chicago family that has to relocate to Missouri to launder money for a Mexican drug cartel, has been a popular and critical success over the past couple of years. This is due to strong performances from leads Jason Bateman and Laura Linney. Last year Bateman took home an Emmy for direction, while fan favorite, Julia Garner, took home a statue of her own for playing the foul mouthed Ruth.
Let’s hope it can stick the landing. If it can, it possibly belongs on the same tier as “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul” stories of flawed protagonists that are often in over their head.
