Emmys 2020: Ozark and Succession get some much deserved loved

Love Ozark. Love Succession.

Which is why I was happy to see them among the leaders in nominations for the 2020 Emmy Awards that will be airing in early September (story HERE). What that ceremony will look like during COVID is unknown but that’s a post for another time.

Ozark was able to get stars Julia Garner and Jason Bateman trophies last year, and this was another excellent year for the NetFlix program ahead of it’s final season. Hopefully, Laura Linney gets some recognition this year for her superb work as the mother who really held it all together for the Byrds this year.

Succession is just a joy. I was happy to see acting nominations all around for the media tycoon Roy’s who are such a mess of an empire to watch on the HBO drama. I’ll also be rooting for them this year, including in the best drama category, where competition seems a little stagnant among the established field.

They’re a large part why HBO and NetFlix are still worth your money. Both FTR approved buys.

Comedy-wise, I’ve never been a big “Schitt’s Creek” guy but their presence can’t be denied. I am hyped about the excellent “What We Do In The Shadows” which I believe really was one of the consistent laughers on the TV this year.

And I see you Mandalorian. Great first season. I wouldn’t be mad if you won.

You can take a look at the major categories below. I’ve highlighted my favorites. My predictions will come later.
