On Sunday, residents from all over Central Florida gathered downtown for the 2020 Women’s March, one of many taking place all over the country promoting awareness of women’s issues on local, state, and federal levels. The program featured local leaders such as Orlando City Commissioner Patty Sheehan, State Representatives Amy Mercado and Anna Eskamani, as well as several candidates for various offices up for election this year. Participants marched from City Hall to Lake Eola and back with a police escort from the Orlando Police Department. While protesters attempted to walk on stage, OPD was able to preserve the peace and prevent any altercations.
