On Wednesday, Comedy Central announced that they were producing two season of Beavis and Butt-Head, the MTV cartoon that reigned in the mid 90s and served as an anchor for slacker culture.
But we loved them anyways.
They watched music videos, goofed off on the job and at school, and did things that almost got them killed. And we were laughing the entire way right alongside them.
But what if Beavis and Butt-Head are actually coming back to save us during these tough and confusing times?
Right now, our nerves are strained. We’re facing conflict in our communities and in our very own bodies.
We need something to laugh at now. Not a public figure. Not a thing. Not something that in a round-about way could be used to end up hurting or offending someone.
Is there anyone better than Beavis and Butt-Head? I don’t think so. These guys precede South Park. While I love both, the OGs of indifference and dumb behavior are what we need right now.
Original show creator Mike Judge has the chance to really secure a comedy victory for a world that dearly needs one right now.
And it will be his most unlikeliest heroes that might make it happen.
