This week, Friday Night Smackdown ended with a stinger none of us will soon forget.
Roman Reigns signing the contract for Payback this weekend where he’ll face Braun Strowman and The Fiend for the WWE Championship. But he was speaking someone else’s words when he said he’d win back the title he never lost.
“That’s not a prediction, that’s a spoiler.” he closed.
And then the camera panned over to Paul Heyman. One of the most celebrated leadership figures of wrestling over the last three decades for the uninitiated.
And also one of the best talkers. Exactly what Roman Reigns in the WWE needs.
We love to hear Paul Heyman talk. But he can’t fight The Fiend and Strowman.
We love to watch Reigns wrestle. But he doesn’t talk like that. Few can.
What a great move by WWE. These two are already exceptional in their own ways but together they can shift the entire stage of all three shows.
And I’m sure many fans will feel the same way. There is such potential here.
It would have been fun to watch them heat up this match with a little more than 48 hours to go but that doesn’t matter really, it can be just as effective on the back end. Maybe more. I want to hear the pre match intro by Heyman for his new guy.
This also shouldn’t be the end of Paul Heyman building a stable. Let’s see him pick up a tag team and someone in the women’s division. He can make it all work.
Awesome move by WWE. I can’t wait to see what these two remarkable talents can do together.
