AEW Dynamite: Cody and Brodie Lee bring the house down and we celebrate “Le Champion”

AEW Dynamite gave us one of their best matches of the year on Wednesday night with a dog collar match between Cody and Mr. Brodie Lee, while we celebrated 30 years of “Le Champion” “Y2J” “The DemoGod”, Chris Jericho.

In just an absolute showcase, Cody who got his TNT title back in a brutal and bloody showdown with his nemesis, Lee, who destroyed him last month in taking it from him. Both of these guys were just plain terrific and the praised poured in from social media just raving about the old school overtones of this dog collar showdown. Cody has the belt but some believed it was one of Brodie Lee’s best matches ever. It’s hard to disagree. It also looks like we’re getting Cody against Orange Cassidy next week and I’ll be there for that.

Then there was the Jericho anniversary, which included video packages from his friends around the industry and around the world. The crowd belted out “Judas” when it was time for this tag match with Jake Hager against his longtime colleague, Luther, and his partner Serpentico. The show ended with a Saturday Night Live inspired credits roll with the locker room emptying out to celebrate with one of the best to ever do it in the modern era.

The undercard was great too. Often the other stars on the roster take a backseat during an episode this packed, but there was some great matches in the women’s tag teams divisions as well.
